»Doing the right things: How I Build Socially, Economically, and Environmentally Valuable Cycles with Good Input.«
The material effectiveness perspective is the entry into a new paradigm of value creation. While resource efficiency and the conventional understanding of circular economy are about "how to do something", effectiveness is about "doing the right things".
It is about the foundation, what has to be done to be able to build up a cycle, in which in the best case every material can be used again in the same place in the same cycle or the used material is renewable and thus available for the cycle - and this moreover in a way that no danger comes from the used material!
From a transformation perspective, we see effectiveness as the top level of sustainability.
Effectiveness is the basic pattern for sustainable transformation
According to the declaration of 30.03.2022 on the European Green Deal, sustainable products are to be made the norm in the EU. This also includes the promotion of a genuine circular economy. For reasons of risk avoidance, it is therefore very sensible to initiate the first approaches to a transformation based on effectiveness today.
A transformation is particularly relevant for companies that:
want to strengthen the company's resilience in the procurement market and in their value chains for strategic reasons
are located in markets where prices for raw materials will rise in the future
derive for themselves a first-mover advantage in the business field of effective circular economy
are subject to CSR reporting and want to improve their carbon footprint
want to fundamentally future-proof their existing business models
Our approach is based on the Cradle to Cradle principle
C2C is the approach for a consistent, holistic circular economy: All raw materials or components used should be able to be returned completely and equally to the production process or biological cycle at the end of a product's life cycle. In the technical cycle, consumer goods are broken down into so-called technical nutrients after fulfilling their function and enable the production of new consumer goods with as little loss of quality as possible.
We carry out the optimization to the C2C design standard together with our network partner EPEA Switzerland.
In principle, this process is based on the three development steps:
Evaluation & audit of supply chains - analysis of supply chains and establishment of Transparency
Material Health Assessment - The preparation of a toxicological Material Health Assessment
Optimization & innovation - derivation of innovations or substitutes that optimize the products C2C
The roadmap for the Cradle to Cradle design standard
Together with our network, we create an individual roadmap for you and accompany you during the transformation.
Evaluate & Audit Supply Chains
Approach and audit of the involved suppliers (TIER 1) and sub-suppliers. Project explanation (documents); clarification of confidentiality.
Material Health Assessement
Material Health Assessment based on the information collected about the materials and chemicals used.
Optimization & Innovation
Analyses, research, network knowledge, involvement of suppliers and Material Health Assessor. Moderation and implementation of the solutions found.
Your benefits
The individual roadmap creates the framework for the broader strategy with the subsequent transformation.
When implementing the C2C design standard, we can draw on specialists from our network.
Our qualitative methods are designed to involve many of your employees - creating enthusiasm for the transformation process right from the start.
